When calculating the profits and losses for contract transactions, it will show both unrealized and realized profits and losses at the same time. Please refer to the following to help you better distinguish the 2 data.
Unrealized Profits and Losses
This refers to a current position that is not closed yet and the profit & loss is only an estimated figure calculated based on the current real-time reasonable price to close all the positions. For USDT-based contracts and currency-based contracts, there are some differences in algorithms.
USDT-based Contracts
Unrealized P&L for long positions = number of positions × (current reasonable price - average opening price) × order value of the single contract
Unrealized P&L for short positions = number of positions × (average opening price - current reasonable price) × order value of the single contract
Currency-based Contracts
Unrealized P&L for long positions = number of positions × (1/current reasonable price - 1/average opening price) × order value of the single contract
Unrealized P&L for short positions = number of positions × (1/current reasonable price - /average opening price) × order value of the single contract
Realized Profits and Losses
This refers to the real profit and loss generated after closing the current contract position which is calculated based on the actual opening and closing price.
USDT-based Contracts
Unrealized P&L for long positions = number of closed positions × (closing price - average opening price) × order value of the single contract
Unrealized P&L for short positions = number of closed positions x (average opening price - closing price) × order value of the single contract
Currency-based Contracts
Unrealized P&L for long positions = number of closed positions × (1/average opening price -1/closing price) × order value of the single contract
Unrealized P&L for short positions = number of closed positions × (1/closing price - 1/average opening price) × order value of the single contract
